Tribal woman killed over water request in Palnadu, Nara Lokesh criticizes YSRCP's role

Amaravati: TDP youth leader Nara Lokesh expressed his shock over the brutal killing of a tribal woman, Saminibai (50), in Mallavaram Tanda of Rentachintala Mandal in the Macharla constituency of Palnadu region, claiming it to be an act of unprecedented savagery not seen elsewhere in the country. According to Lokesh, Palnadu is witnessing a rule of lawlessness, where a woman coming to fetch drinking water from a tanker was mercilessly run over and killed by a tractor driven by a person affiliated with the YSRCP.

Lokesh highlighted the dire situation in the area where, after a week without water, tribal women who approached the tanker for water were threatened by a YSRCP supporter, saying they had no right to the water since they belonged to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He argued that questioning the linkage between political affiliation and access to water was the "crime" that led to Saminibai's death.

Reflecting on the series of incidents in Macharla, Lokesh questioned whether the region was living in a democracy or had regressed to a primitive state. He criticized the local law enforcement's handling of the case, suggesting that treating the incident as an accident due to the driver's inability to drive was a disgrace to the police system. He expressed outrage at the idea that someone could be killed for merely asking for drinking water.
