Government to Hire Two Bell Helicopters for CM Jagan's Security Amid Election Season

The Director-General of Police (Intelligence) has reported threats to the life of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy from Maoists, terrorists, and insurgent groups. The report highlights the necessity of providing the utmost security to CM Jagan, especially in the context of the upcoming elections in Andhra Pradesh.

In preparation for CM Jagan's tours, the Andhra Pradesh government is arranging two helicopters, with one stationed in Vijayawada and the other in Visakhapatnam. These helicopters, leased from Messrs Global Vectra company, are dual-engine Bell helicopters.

The lease cost for each helicopter is reported to be Rs. 1.91 crores per month, with additional expenses to be borne by the government. Orders to this effect were issued by the Principal Secretary of the Infrastructure Department, Yuvraj.

The current helicopter in use by the CM has been deemed outdated by the Andhra Pradesh Aviation Corporation Limited, noting that it has been in use since 2010 and requires replacement.
