Explain Rs 5 cr bank transfer, EC asks Komatireddy
Munugode, October 31: The Election Commission of India issued showcause notice to BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy on Sunday night, asking him to explain about the transfer of Rs 5.24 crore into the accounts of people within Munugode constituency. The EC said cash transfer is against election norms and asked him to submit full details before 4 pm on Monday.
TRS general secretary Soma Bharath Kumar on October 29 complained to the ECI that Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy is trying to woo voters by distributing cash in Munugode bypoll. He further informed the ECI that Rs 5.24 crore was transferred from the account of Komatireddy’s family-owned firm Sushi Infra and Mining Limited Company into the account of 23 different persons or companies on October 14, 18 and 29. He sought to seize these accounts and to take proper action. Bharat Kumar explained that the people and companies to whose accounts the amount was transferred have no business dealing with Sushi Infra company.
Following TRS leader’s complaint, the ECI ordered Komatireddy to give explanation. “If we are not satisfied with Komatireddy’s explanation, then we will take a decision in this regard,” said ECI Prinicipal Secretary Avinash Kumar.
