Students fall sick after eating ‘lizard’ contaminated food

Jangaon, October 28: As many as 12 students fell ill after eating food which had a dead lizard on Thursday night. The incident took place in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Devaruppula village of Jangaon. 
 
The students were served cucumber chutney in dinner on Thursday night. They found a dead lizard in the chutney, but before that some students ate it. 12 students developed severe stomach ache and vomitings. The hostel staff rushed them to Jagaon government hospital. The condition of the students is stable. 
 
The students alleged that the hostel staff are negligent even they informed them of a lizard in the food. 
 
DEO Ramu and RDO Madan Mohan inspected the KGBV on Friday. They conducted medical tests for the students. They are enquiring the officials and students about the lizard incident. 
 
Meanwhile, parents of the students rushed to the school and staged a protest. They alleged that principal Sukanya’s negligence led to this ‘food poisoning’. They were angry on the officials for not informing them about the incident immediately.
