Jagan inaugurates Genco 3rd unit
Nellore, October 27: “It’s my good fortune to inaugurate the project that was initiated by my father former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy,” stated Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. On Thursday, he inaugurated Genco third unit at Nelaturu, Muthukuru mandal, Nellore district. Later, he laid foundation stone for the construction of fishing jetty at a cost of Rs 25 crore at Krishnapatnam port limits.
Speaking at a public meeting, CM Jagan dedicated the Genco 3rd unit to the nation. He said that YSR had laid foundation for this project in 2008 in the then united Andhra Pradesh. He initiated for a super critical thermal power station for the first time in the country, he reminded. He said that government power companies have been manufacturing 45% of power needs of the State. This plant will produce 19 million units power per day, which will be added to the grid. Pollution will decrease as this unit uses less quantity of coal for power production, he added.
CM Jagan said that the government is allotting Rs 93 crore for the construction of checkdam at Mudivartipalem amid Penna River in Nellore district. With this checkdam, backwaters from the sea could be stopped and will solve water problem of four mandals.
