Double-decker buses to thrill Hyderabadis soon

Hyderabad, October 20: Hyderabad is popular not only for Charminar, Golkonda, Hussain Sagar but also for double-decker buses. People of 1990s still remember the fond memories of travelling in these buses. But these buses were stopped in 2000s due to high maintenance cost and lack of availability of spare parts etc.

But the demand to rerun double-decker buses in the city is still on. Many requested Minister KT Rama Rao to reintroduce these buses through Twitter and he responded positively. KTR asked Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar to prepare a plan for this.

The TSRTC is mulling to take electric double-decker buses on lease to run them in three different routes in the city. Mostly these three routes will be Patancheru-Koti, Jeedimetla-CBS and Afzalganz-Mehadipatnam.

Tenders are invited from interested companies to run these buses on rental bases and will be called for in a week.
The company that wins the bid will be paid charges regularly. The TSRTC will finalize routes, charges and other issues.
