Heavy rains lashes Hyderabad, roads waterlogged

Hyderabad, September 27: All roads were flooded due to a heavy downpour in Hyderabad on Monday. Several parts of the city witnessed heavy rains ranging from 9 cm to 12 cm. The sudden downpour for three hours, from 5 pm to 8 pm, had stalled traffic causing problems to people. 
 
About 5 lakh vehicles and students got stuck in traffic for more than 2 hours. Several vehicles were stopped as rainwater entered the engines while several others got washed away.
 
Rainwater entered into houses in about 250 colonies in the city. Power supply was disrupted in many areas. Rain continued even after midnight. 
 
Met department predicted more rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday. 
 
Meanwhile, lightening killed three persons in various districts. A farmer Kamatam Srinu of Botigumpu village, Kothagudem district, died to lightening while returning from fields on Monday.  Lightening stuck Shaik Jaanbi of Banigandlapadu village, Khammam district, who was sleeping on a cot outside of her house.  Musuku Nagaraju of Sidhapuram village, Hanamkonda district, was standing under a tree on Monday evening and died on the spot due to lightening.
