Veteran actor Krishnam Raju passes away

Hyderabad, September 11: Veteran actor ‘rebel star’ Krishnam Raju (83) has passed away in Hyderabad in the early hours of Sunday. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at AIG Hospital in Gachibowli in Hyderabad. He is survived by wife, Shyamala Devi and three daughters – Praseedi, Prakeerthi and Pradeepti.
 
He was born on January 20, 1940 at Mogalturu, West Godavari district. After finishing studies, he has a small stint as a journalist. His first film was ‘Chilaka Gorinka’ in 1966 and he won accolades as a villain in ‘Ave Kallu’ movie.
 
He won Nandi awards and film fare award. Krishnam Raju also served as Union Minister during former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
 
Family members informed that the body of the veteran actor will be brought to his house after 12 pm on Sunday and the final rites will be performed on Monday afternoon.
 
Famous actor Prabhas is the son of Krishnam Raju’s brother Uppalapati Suryanarayana Raju.
