Kunamneni elects as CPI State secretary amid high drama
Hyderabad, September 8: Amid high drama and heated arguments, finally Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao has been elected as CPI State secretary. Party leaders Palla Venkat Reddy and Sambasiva Rao contested for the post. The elections were held at Samshabad on Wednesday during the party third State Maha Sabha. The election row continued till midnight. As both the leaders were not ready to step back, voting was held and Sambasiva Rao got 59 votes while Venkat Reddy got 45.
Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao was formed MLA of Kothagudem and party State assistant secretary.
After separate Telangana formation, Chada Venkat Reddy was elected as State secretary. As per party rules, the State secretary can continue for three times also. It came to know that Chada Venkat Reddy requested to give him the chance for the third time also. But, Kunamneni reportedly insisting for the post led to stiff competition between the two.
Sources said that Chada announced that he will continue in the post if elected unanimously. He also reportedly proposed to give the post to Palla Venkat Reddy if he (Chada Venkat Reddy) doesn’t get the State secretary post.
