Girl’s throat slit, attacked with acid in Nellore
Nellore, September 6: An unidentified man poured acid on the face and in the mouth of a 14-year-old girl, when she resisted his attempts to rape her. He slit her throat and escaped. The incident took place in a village in Venkatachalam mandal, Nellore district on Monday night.
According to police, the accused, Nagaraju, noticed that the victim, ninth class student, was alone in the house on Monday evening. He attempted to rape her. The girl tried to lock herself in a bathroom but Nagaraju entered into the bathroom and tried to rape her again. When she resisted severely, the accused poured acid on her face and in her mouth. Unable to bear the pain, the girl cried loud. The accused slit her throat with a knife and fled from there.
After hearing her cries, neighbours rushed to the house and saw the girl in a pool of blood and informed her parents. She was rushed to Nellore Government Hospital and the doctors said that her condition is critical. She was shifted to a private hospital for better treatment.
Police took the accused into custody.
SP CH Vijay Rao and Agricultural Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy met the girl in the hospital on Monday night and enquired about the incident. The SP said that they have collected evidences from the incident spot.
