Gas cylinders explode after lorry catches fire
Giddaluru, September 2: A major fire accident took place near Daddavada village of Komarole mandal of Prakasam district on Thursday midnight.
According to police, the lorry carrying more than 300 Bharat gas cylinders from Kurnool district was heading to Ulavapadu of Nellore district and the driver noticed flames in the lorry cabin. Driver Mohan Raju stopped the lorry and got down from the lorry. More than 100 cylinders exploded and the vehicle was completely burnt.
Since all the cylinders are full, police became alert and stopped the vehicles on both sides of Anantapur-Guntur national highway. They also vacated about 30 houses within 300 meters distance of the accident spot.
The fire fighting staff tried to douse the fire from a distance of about 200 meters as the cylinders are kept exploding.
