Ghulam Nabi Azad rules out joining BJP; says will float a new party in J&K

New Delhi: What will Ghulam Nabi Azad do next after resigning from Congress? Which party will he join? A discussion was started. Speculations were rife that he may join BJP. But Azad clarified that he is not in touch with BJP and announced that he will float his own party in Jammu and Kashmir.

Azad explained that he is not currently looking for a national presence. He has revealed that he wants to limit the party to his own state. He said that he would think about strengthening the party at the national level in the future. However, Azad did not give any clue regarding the name and symbol of the political party he is going to float.

Azad, who has 50 years of experience in politics, resigned from the Congress on Friday and he sent a five-page letter to Sonia Gandhi. He flayed Rahul Gandhi's leadership. He alleged that the party was destroyed since he assumed the post of vice-president in 2013.

When Rahul came, he alleged that seniors have been ignored and sidelined in the party and the consultation process was put to an end. On the other hand, Congress leaders refuted Azad's allegations. They said that the party leaders respected him a lot. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has severely criticised Azad for betraying the party at a critical time.
