Protests continue in Hyderabad old city, tight security arranged

Hyderabad, August 25: Tight security arrangements were made in Hyderabad old city as tension prevailed on Wednesday also in the wake of BJP MLA Raja Singh comments. Several youth staged protests near Charminar since Tuesday night. Shops in Charminar, Moghalpura, Shalibanda, Choumahalla Palace, Madina and other areas. 
 
Cases were booked against the MLA at several police stations in the city. Majlis party general secretary and MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri wrote a letter to Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday, requesting him to cancel the membership of MLA Raja Singh. Police arranged strict security at the house of Raja Singh at Dhulpet.
 
Agitators staged a protest at Shalibanda chowrasta on Wednesday and burnt the effigy of the MLA. Police took 31 protestors including Pattarghatti corporator Sohail Quadri into custody and later released them.
 
Sensing the gravity of the situation, rapid action force (RPF), task force and additional police were deployed and RPF took out flag march in old city. Despite police security, some youth took to roads on Wednesday night and burnt Raja Singh’s effigy at Saidabad circle. Protestors hurled stones at police near Moghulpura on Wednesday midnight.
