Paderu: Smugglers abandon vehicle with 200 kilos of ganja, one caught with AK-47

Paderu, August 19: Two smugglers abandoned a four-wheeler on seeing Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) and Task Force sleuths near Tadigiri village in Humkumpeta mandal in Alluri Sitarama Raju district on Thursday. Vehicle fell into a roadside pit. Smugglers fled away on a two-wheeler which was following the car.
 
The cops recovered 200 kilos of ganja from the car. Later, Ganesh, who helped the smugglers to run away on a two-wheeler, was caught by police at Kondapada village in Munchingi Puttu mandal and recovered AK-47 from him. One of the smugglers was identified as a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
 
Based on credible information that ganja is being smuggled to Uttar Pradesh from Manyam, the SEB and Task Force police launched a hunt and came across vehicle used for smuggling banned substance.
