Mobiles banned in IIIT Basara campus

Basara, July 25: The officials of IIIT Basara imposed restrictions on using mobile phones in the campus. They banned using mobiles inside the administrative building, classrooms and labs. The Varsity Director issued orders on Saturday in this regard.
 
It should be noted that the students of IIIT Basara have protested for about one week demanding provision of facilities. The students passed on the information about their protest through social media. Though the college management didn’t allowed media, students managed to inform the people about their protest, demands. 
 
The students withdrew their protest after the government agreed to fulfill their demands. But the officials didn’t implement their assurances except one or two. At this junction ban on mobiles usage in the campus leading to several suspicions. 
 
Students are expressing doubts that the officials took the decision to avoid spreading of photos and videos if they stage protest again. 
 
But there is no clarity whether the ban on phones is applicable to students only or to teaching staff also. Students are demanding to apply the rules imposed on them to lecturers also.
 
Meanwhile, restrictions on media in the university campus are continuing. Media is not allowed inside the campus. Whenever any meeting was held, university officials are transporting the reporters in university vehicle amid police security to the meeting venue and again dropping them outside of the gate. No photos or videos are allowed to take.
