Osmania hospital building unsafe as hospital

Hyderabad, July 23: The experts committee stated that in the present condition Osmania hospital building is not safe to use, especially as hospital and suggested its life span could be increased by taking up repairs and renovation. But after that also, it could be used for other purposes except as hospital, the committee asserted.

The committee said that since the building is listed as heritage building, conservation works should be taken up under the supervision of architects. Several changes should be made like oxygen pipeline, gas line, AC lines, water pipelines etc to use the building as hospital and all these changes will show impact on the building strength.

It should be reminded that several public interest litigations were filed seeking demolition of Osmania hospital building which is dilapidated condition and to release the funds sanctioned by the government, not to demolish the heritage building etc. A Judges bench heard the petition on Friday. The Advocate General told the court that the experts committee had submitted its report and sought time to disclose the government’s decision.

The judges directed to submit the reports to petitioners and also defendants and adjourned the case to August 25.
