Infosys will start functioning from Vizag within two months: Minister Amarnath

Tirupati, July 22: IT and Industry Minister Gudivada Amarnath and YSRCP MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad on Friday visited Tirumala temple along with their family members during VIP break darshan and offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara.

Speaking to the media, Amarnath said that the YSRCP government is striving extremely hard to develop Information Technology (IT) sector in truncated state of Andhra Pradesh. “Already some major IT firms have expressed interest to start operations in the state,” he mentioned.
 
The minister said that tech giant Infosys will start functioning from Visakhapatnam within two months. The company initial intake in Vizag campus is 2,500 employees. At present, 150 IT and ITeS units are located in port city.
 
“We have created 30,000 IT jobs in the last three years,” he said and added that the state government set a target of providing IT-related employment to 30,000 educated youth in next two years,” he explained.
