Bhadrachalam will face permanent flood risk once Polavaram completed: Puvvada

Hyderabad, July 19: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar on Monday said that temple town of Bhadrachalam will face permanent flood risk once construction of Polavaram Project is completed. Speaking to the media here, he stated that water level in Godavari river at Bhadrachalam will maintain at 45 feet due to Polavaram. “The Telangana government has been demanding the AP to reduce the height of Polavaram,” he mentioned.
 
Ajay stressed on the need for strengthening the bunds to stop flow of floodwater into Bhadrachalam. “I thank Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for sending a team of experts from Hyderabad for protecting temple town from floodwater,” he said. 
 
The minister stated that power restored in 223 flood-affected villages in and around Bhadrachalam and remaining 17 villages will get electricity by today afternoon. “We are still continuing relief camps even though majority of them went back to their colonies in Bhadrachalam,” he added.
