West Bengal CM Mamata targeted, assailant intrudes into her residence with iron rod

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was targeted by an assailant. His entry into the Mamata’s residence after escaping three-tier security has created a commotion. The police investigation revealed that he conducted a recce seven times at Mamata's house.

According to police,  the man was identified as Hafeezul Mollah and he conducted the recce at Mamata's residence in the Kalighat area of Kolkata. In this order, he focused on Mamata Banerjee’s movements. The security personnel found out about this and arrested him. Meanwhile, sensational things came to light as part of the investigation. Police said that he took pictures of Mamata's residence with his cell phone.

Meanwhile, on the intervening night of July 2 and 3, Hafeezul passed the security personnel and entered Mamata's house with an iron rod. It was found that the accused had 11 SIM cards and called many people in Bangladesh, Jharkhand and Bihar.

According to the police, the accused went to Bangladesh last year without proper documents. After this incident, the Kolkata administration made several changes in the postings of senior police officers. CM's Security Director Vivek Sahai was sacked. 

Furthermore, the police have made it clear that they are trying to find out the activities of the accused after he went to Bangladesh. The police are suspecting that Hafeezul has links with terrorists.
