CBI caught South Central Railway chief engineer re-handed while accepting bribe

Hyderabad, June 30: A 15-member team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths caught South Central Railway (SCR) chief engineer (CE) Suresh while accepting Rs 5 lakh bribe from a contractor at his residence located at Concrete Palazzo in Nacharam here on Wednesday evening. Later, they search his flat and seized cash and property documents.
 
According to reports, contractor approached Suresh seeking permission for construction of a railway over bridges on a track in between Uppal and Jammikunta. The SCR CE informed contractor through his assistant that contract can be awarded to him if he is ready to pay Rs 5 lakh as bribe.
 
The contractor lodged a complaint with the CBI. As per the directions of the agency officials, the complainant went to the residence of Suresh and handed over cash to him. The CBI confirmed CE’s arrest and produced him before a railway court in Secunderabad. Later, he will be remanded.
