Woman hires supari killers to murder son-in-law; arrested

Anantapur, June 23: The Raptadu police arrested a woman for the alleged honour killing of her son-in-law and another eight persons on Wednesday. Police said that M Yasodamma hired a gang and gave Rs 10 lakh to kill her son-in-law Chitra Murali for marrying her daughter against her wishes.
 
Chitra Murali, son of Muthyalamma and Naganna, belongs to Kanaganapalli of Anatapur district, has completed PG and working in Kia Cars company at Penugonda. He belongs to a lower caste. Veena of the same village is working as a woman police at Elukuntla village secretariat. 
 
The duo had love affair and got married in June last year, though Veena’s parents are against their marriage. They were living in Raptadu. Unidentified persons forcible took away Murali, who was waiting for a bus at Raptadu Y junction on June 16. Later, he was murdered and his body was found near Linganapalli village.
 
Veena filed a complaint with the police after her husband’s phone was switched off. Police found out Murali’s body. Police enquired and confirmed that Yasoda killed her son-in-law as she didn’t like the marriage.
