Two charred to death in mishap in Vijayawada
Vijayawada, June 16: Two people were burnt alive after a tipper rammed into a lorry, while in another incident auto driver died on the spot after his auto collided with a lorry. These incidents took place in NTR district in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to police, a cement-laden lorry from Ramco cement factory in Jaggaiahpeta was going to Rajahmundry of East Godavari district. As one of the tyres was punctured near Kachavaram Panchayat, Ibrahimpatnam, driver N Lakshamana Swamy parked the lorry on roadside and changing the flat tyre.
At the same time, a tipper came in wrong route and hit the stationed lorry. With this, lorry diesel tank burst and fire broke out. Two drivers in the tipper – Reddy Ranga Rao (26) and Pasupuleti Srinivasa Rao (27) burnt alive. Both the deceased belong to Tummalapalem village.
Lorry driver Lakshmana Swamy received minor injuries and he was shifted to hospital.
In another accident at Auto Nagar terminal in Vijayawada, lorry driver Mohammad Sultan Baig of Krishna district was going with cement load to Mandapet of Konaseema district form Piduguralla. When he was taking a left turn near Auto Nagar terminal, an auto rammed into the lorry from behind. Auto driver Ongole Hanuk (53) of Bhavanipuram, died on the spot as the front part of the auto crushed.
