11 held in football player murder case

Vijayawada, June 8: Patamata police have arrested 11 persons in the murder case of a State-level football player, on Tuesday. The police arrested the prime accused Srirama Gopikrishna alias Prabha and another 10 persons, who helped him in killing Akash.
 
Football player Gilaka Deepak Akash (24) was murdered at AF-3 apartment at Kanakadurga Gazetted Officers’ Colony on May 31. 
 
According to police, Aakash used to live in Gunadala earlier and there was rivalry between Akash and Prabha over a girl. In this context, on May 31, after consuming liquor, there was an altercation between the two. Later Akash went to the apartment in Gazetted Officer’s colony. Prabha gang attacked the player and stabbed him to death.
 
Vijayawada Police Commissioner Kanthi Rana Tata formed special teams to nab the culprits, who nabbed them within one week.
