DGP Rajendranath Reddy said that situation in Amalapuram is under control and an enquiry will held on the agitations.
Speaking with the media, Eluru range DIG Palaraju said that they are checking CCTV footage to identify the agitators, who resorted to destruction, and already took a few people into custody. Tight security was arranged at the houses and offices of people’s representatives in the district. Airtel has stopped internet services in the district.
Meanwhile, as precautionary measure the District Collector decided to impose curfew in Konaseema, which will come into effect from Wednesday.
It should be noted here the State government has changed the name of Konaseema district as BR Ambedkar district recently. Protesting against the name change, Konaseema Sadhana Samithi called for agitation and torched the houses of a minister and MLA on Tuesday and burned a few buses.
