Hyd: Rahul Gandhi meets NSUI leaders lodged in jail
Hyderabad, May 7: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi met 18 NSUI leaders, who were lodged in Chanchalguda Jail, on Saturday. He was accompanied by CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka. Both interacted with the NSUI leaders including its state president Balmuri Venkat for 25 minutes.
Former TPCC president and MP Uttam Kumar Reddy has faulted the Telangana government for not allowing three Congress MPs to accompany Rahul to meet jailed NSUI leaders. “Even, the Congress leaders tried to talk to Director General of Prisons but he was not available over mobile,” he stated.
TPCC president Revanth Reddy alleged that Jail authorities gave permission only for two persons to meet the NSUI leaders in prison bowing to pressure from Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He said that the Congress will lodge a complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Earlier in the day, Rahul paid tribute to former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Damodaram Sanjeevaiah at Sanjeevaiah Park.
