Setback for BJP, TMC wins two, Cong two, RJD one in bypolls

New Delhi: In a setback for BJP, the party has failed to win a single seat in the results of the by-elections that were announced on Saturday for one Lok Sabha seat and four Assembly seats in four states. The Congress party, which was eating a humble pie of late, has won two seats. The RJD, which feels it has lost ground, also won one seat in the by-elections.

The Asansol Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal, which caught everyone's attention, was bagged by the ruling Trinamool Congress Party (TMC). Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, who contested on the TMC ticket, won the by-election. Former Union Minister and TMC leader Babul Supriyo won the bypoll from the Balliganj Assembly constituency. It is noteworthy that these two leaders also said goodbye to the BJP and joined the TMC.

The RJD candidate won the by-election from the Bochhan Assembly seat in Bihar. At the same time, the Congress party won the Kolhapur North Assembly by-election in Maharashtra. The Congress candidate also secured victory in the Kairagarh Assembly by-election in Chhattisgarh.
