Nara Lokesh condemns AP govt’s decision to hike RTC bus charges

TDP national general secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh on Wednesday faulted the decision of the Andhra Pradesh government to hike RTC bus fares. The APSRTC is bearing an additional cost of Rs 1,000 crore every month with the increase in diesel price.

The RTC officials said that bus charges were hiked in 2019 when the price of diesel per litre was Rs 74. In the recent past, the diesel price increased abnormally and now it stands at Rs 107 per litre. “Only option left for the RTC is to hike bus fares to reduce losses,” an official said.

Lokesh has criticised Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for hiking the property tax, electricity charges, and now getting ready to increase bus fares. It is not correct to impose burden on common people, who commutes regularly in RTC buses. The TDP leader condemned the decision of the AP government of bus fare hike.
