Warangal by-polls: TRS candidate leads by 4,07,611 votes

Hyderabad, Nov 24: Counting for the Warangal Lok Sabha by-election is continuing and Telangana Rashtra Samiti candidate Pasunuri Dayakar is leading over his rivals with 4,07,611 votes at the end of the 18th round of counting. Meanwhile, police have clamped Section 144 around the Yenumamula Market yard vote counting centre. Warangal District Collector Karuna and Warangal city police commissioner Sudhir Babu are overseeing the voting process. There will be a total of 22 rounds of counting of votes and the preliminary result is expected to be announced by 2 pm today. A total of 23 candidates are in the fray for the Warangal Lok Sabha seat. Celebrations broke out in the TRS camp across the state. Party workers burst firecrackers and distributed sweets at Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters here. "A big thanks to Warangal. You've inspired us to work more and better," tweeted K.T. Rama Rao, state minister and son of Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao. About 69 percent of 15 lakh voters cast their votes in Saturday's bye-election, necessitated by the resignation of Kadiam Srihari after he was made deputy chief minister of the state.
