Rahul may take over party reins this year only: Jairam Ramesh

New Delhi, May 20, 2015: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has disclosed here today that party vice president Rahul Gandhi may take over as the party president during this year only. "Jawaharlal Nehru gave importance to regional leaders and put the party on success path. I am hopeful that Rahul Gandhi too will implement a similar policy to bring back glory to the party, " he told reporters during a press conference. He said Rahul Gandhi is concentrating on inculcating new leadership at regional level as emergence of new leaders is essential at both national and state level for victory in elections. Dismissing reports that some senior leaders are thinking in terms of threat to their survival if Rahul Gandhi emerges as president of the party, Jairam Ramesh said that the process of renaissance takes place in every political party at every 20 to 25 years. "There is a need to give importance to the youth in the party and Rahul Gandhi is no threat to any senior leader," he made it clear.
