RCB’s Viral Video Mocking Mumbai Indians’ Captaincy Change Faces Backlash

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has stirred controversy ahead of IPL 2025 with a video appearing to mock Mumbai Indians' captaincy change, which has now gone viral on social media, putting RCB in a difficult spot.
The Mumbai Indians franchise, which achieved unparalleled success under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, made a surprising decision by appointing Hardik Pandya, former Gujarat Titans captain, as their new leader. The decision to overlook Rohit Sharma in favor of Pandya has sparked significant backlash from fans.
Meanwhile, RCB has appointed Rajat Patidar as their new captain after releasing Faf du Plessis. In this context, ‘Mr. Nags,’ a popular RCB character known for his humorous interactions, appeared to troll Mumbai Indians in a video featuring a conversation with Patidar.
During the conversation, Mr. Nags remarked, “You’ve finally become the captain. Even former RCB captains Virat (Kohli) and Du Plessis have congratulated you. Do you think other teams also handle captaincy changes this way?”
Patidar responded briefly, stating he was not aware of such matters. Pressing further, Mr. Nags joked, “You really don’t know? Then why are you smiling?” He continued, “So, you mean to say, ‘MI Nahin Janta’ (Mumbai Indians don't know)?”—a pun that many fans interpreted as a direct mockery of Mumbai Indians’ captaincy decision.
The conversation, once uploaded to social media, quickly went viral. Fans expressed outrage over what they perceived as RCB mocking Mumbai Indians’ leadership change, responding with memes and critical comments aimed at RCB.
