Swiggy Launches Initiative to Deliver Surplus Restaurant Food to the Needy
Swiggy, a prominent food delivery platform, has launched a new social responsibility initiative named "Swiggy Serves." This program aims to address the issue of food waste in restaurants by redistributing surplus food to those in need. In collaboration with Robin Hood Army, a social service organization, Swiggy is taking steps to ensure that leftover food from restaurants does not go to waste but instead benefits the underprivileged.
Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy, commented on the initiative, stating, "The Swiggy Serves program is currently operational in 33 cities across India. We plan to expand it to more cities soon. Our efforts aim to eliminate food wastage while simultaneously supporting the needy." Kapoor emphasized that this initiative serves a dual purpose: minimizing food wastage and helping the less fortunate.
The partnership with Robin Hood Army allows Swiggy to leverage its logistics expertise and the organization's grassroots network to effectively distribute surplus food. The program reflects Swiggy's commitment to contributing to social welfare while addressing a pressing issue in the food industry.
