Survivor of Korean Plane Crash Regains Consciousness; What Did He Say?

A tragic plane crash occurred on Sunday in South Korea, involving a Jeju Air flight that crash-landed at Muan Airport. The incident claimed the lives of 179 passengers, leaving only two survivors, both critically injured. Rescue teams acted swiftly, evacuating the two survivors from the burning wreckage and transporting them to a hospital via ambulance. Doctors later confirmed that both survivors are currently receiving treatment and are in stable condition.

One of the survivors, a flight attendant, regained consciousness in the evening after being initially unconscious. Authorities had hoped to gather details about the crash from him. However, police revealed that the survivor, still disoriented and in shock, asked them questions instead. “What happened? How did I end up in the hospital?” he reportedly inquired. Medical professionals stated that the survivor remains deeply traumatized. At the request of his family, he was transferred to another hospital in Seoul for further treatment.

The second survivor, a woman, is in critical condition and is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Due to the severity of her injuries, police have been unable to speak with her. Senior officers stated that unless one of the survivors recovers sufficiently, determining the events leading up to the crash will be difficult.

The crash, which occurred during the plane’s landing, resulted in a massive explosion that engulfed the aircraft in flames. Rescue teams worked quickly to control the fire and extract the survivors.
