Brisbane Test: India All Out for 260, Australia Takes a Big Lead!

As part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India was bowled out for 260 runs in their first innings of the third Test against Australia at Brisbane. Earlier, Australia posted a commanding 445 runs in their first innings, securing a significant 185-run lead.

Resuming the fifth day at an overnight score of 252/9, India managed to add just eight more runs before losing their final wicket. Jasprit Bumrah (10) and Akash Deep (31) shared a crucial 47-run partnership for the last wicket, helping India avoid the follow-on threat.

Key contributions came from KL Rahul (84) and Ravindra Jadeja (77), who hit half-centuries. However, the rest of the Indian batting lineup faltered with low scores. Among Australian bowlers, captain Pat Cummins claimed four wickets, while Mitchell Starc took three. Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, and Travis Head grabbed one wicket each.

Shortly after India’s innings ended, rain disrupted play. With this being the final day of the Test, the chances of a draw appear high. However, given their 185-run lead, Australia may still opt for an aggressive approach in their second innings to set India a target exceeding 300 runs.

Considering the pitch is expected to assist bowlers on the last day, Australia could press hard for a win if weather permits, keeping pressure on the Indian batting lineup.
