Ration Rice Scam: Lookout Notices Issued Against Perni Nani’s Family

In the ongoing ration rice scam investigation, police have issued lookout notices against former minister Perni Nani’s family to prevent them from fleeing the country. This action follows allegations of misappropriation linked to missing ration rice sacks.

The accused in the case had filed bail petitions, but the hearing scheduled for yesterday was postponed to December 19. Meanwhile, in response to an official notice demanding payment for the value of the missing rice, Perni Nani’s family submitted three demand drafts worth ₹1 crore on December 13 as the first installment. Yesterday, they provided additional drafts worth ₹70 lakh, bringing the total payment to ₹1.7 crore so far.

Critics allege that allowing such payments might help Perni Nani’s family escape legal consequences. Although authorities initially reported 3,708 sacks of ration rice missing, they now suspect the actual number could be much higher. An official statement on the precise quantity is expected soon.

On December 10, police filed cases against warehouse owner Jayasudha and manager Manas Teja for their involvement in the scam. Jayasudha applied for bail on December 13, but the hearing was deferred to Thursday. Given her key role, police issued a lookout notice to prevent her from leaving the country.

After making the ₹1.7 crore payment, Perni Nani reappeared publicly yesterday. He was seen at his residence holding discussions with former ministers Merugu Nagarjuna, Jogi Ramesh, and former MLA Kaile Anil Kumar.
