Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has made a strong statement in response to the ongoing criticism of the high ticket prices for the upcoming movie "Pushpa 2." Taking to Twitter, RGV addressed the detractors, suggesting that those who find the ticket prices unreasonable should either avoid watching the movie altogether or wait for the prices to drop in a week or a month. He reminded everyone that they have the option to make a choice.

RGV emphasized that entertainment is not a basic necessity like food, clothing, or shelter. He questioned why people complain about the cost of movie tickets but not about the rising prices of luxury goods and branded items. Highlighting the principles of democratic capitalism, he stated that movies, like any other product, are made for profit and not as a public service.

To illustrate his point, RGV shared an analogy about a man named Subba Rao, who priced his idli plate at ₹1,000. Despite the high price, Subba Rao believed in the superior quality of his idlis. If customers didn’t find the price justifiable, they wouldn’t buy them, and the only one to suffer losses would be Subba Rao himself. RGV compared this scenario to Pushpa 2, arguing that ticket buyers are paying for the film’s perceived "seven-star quality," just as customers pay for luxury experiences at high-end hotels.

He also drew attention to the fact that, despite the criticism, demand for Pushpa 2 remains strong. RGV subtly noted that bookings for the movie are already full, much like Subba Rao’s successful hotel chain, where there is no space left for customers.

Concluding his remarks, RGV reiterated that viewers have the freedom to decide whether to watch the movie or wait for a more affordable opportunity.
