Ts police special allowance cancelled
Hyderabad, July 24: The Telangana government has cancelled 15% special allowance being given to from constables to SI and CI, in several districts. It came to know that the decision was taken as the Maoist activities are on decline.
Earlier, this special allowance was given in nine erstwhile joint districts except Hyderabad. This allowance was given to those working in security wing, AR and special police departments when Maoists activities were in peak. Even last month also, the police personnel received the allowance.
A few days ago, district senior officials informed that the allowance was scrapped. The cancellation was reportedly based on the list issued by Central Home Ministry over Maoist-affected areas.
Central Home Ministry recently identified 90 districts in 11 States as Maoist-affected areas and released funds under Security Related Expenditure (SRE). This list includes Adilabad, Kothagudem, Bhupalpalli, Khamma, Komaram Bheem, Mancherial, Peddapalli and Warangal district in Telangana. Allowance is continued to the police staff working in these districts only and cancelled for those working in other districts.
Meanwhile, discussions are going on about this in police WhatsApp groups. Messages like “15% special allowance to police is cancelled stating that there are no naxals in Telangna. But why the government is providing gunmen and escorts to officials if there are no naxals. Why guards for the houses of offices and houses?”
