Received Rs 1 crore renumeration more than male actors in Tollywood: Vijayashanti

Hyderabad, July 14: Former MP and BJP leader Vijayashanti said in an exclusive interview that BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani is her godfather in politics. “After massive success of Osey Ramulamma movie in 1997, I have joined politics in 1998,” she recalled.
 
To a question, the actress-turned-politician stated that she decided to join saffron party because of BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani. She revealed that she joined the BJP only after getting assurance of creating separate state for Telangana.
 
Giving credit to Vajpayee and Advani, the BJP leader said that she learnt about politics after watching them speaking in party and public meetings.   
 
On movies front, Vijayashanti said that she was paid highest in Tollywood more than star male actors at the height of her career. When asked to reveal the renumeration amount, “Producers paid me Rs 1 crore for each film at that time,” she said.
