Warangal highway turns into serpentine Vehicle Chain

Hyderabad, April.27 : On Thursday, all the roads in Telangana State led to Warangal district in connection with the public meeting being held there. Defying oppressive heat, people, especially farmers, were turning up in large numbers to participate in the 16th Formation Day celebrations of Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Most people started their journey to Warangal town bathed in pink colour on Wednesday itself and filled the huge ground by Thursday afternoon.

Sporting pink turbans, caps and scarves, people made their entry into the venue in specially decked up tractors. The TRS cadre supplied water and butter milk to those headed for the meeting. Water tankers were arranged and lakhs of water sachets and butter milk packets were provided to the processionists. Special medical camps were also set up at several locations across the sprawling ground to attend to any emergency cases.

The roads were filled with all modes of transport vehicles from bicycles to autorickshaws, tractors, bullock carts, DCM vans and RTC and private buses. The rally of vehicles was so big that it outshone the “human chains” formed during the last days of Telangana agitation. With this, the Warangal Highway was jammed even as the Traffic police personnel were clearing the traffic constantly. A large number of vehicles stranded between Aler and Warangal and Khammam-Warangal highways. The entire road route echoed with Jai Telangana and KCR Zindabad slogans.
