Rahul's citizenship issue goes to House Ethics panel

Rahul Gandhi, Congress vice-president, has been asked to clear his citizenship issue following BJP leader Subramaniam Swamy's letter to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, reiterating his demand in the matter. After scrutinising the letter by Dr Subramaniam Swamy, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan sent the letter to the Ethics Committee which, in turn, issued a show-cause notice to the Congress vice-president. The show-cause pointed out that there was criticism in regard to the citizenship issue of Rahul, so he should clarify the matter himself. Ethics Committee chairman Arjun Ram Meghwal said it was an important issue, and they would take a decision after receiving Rahul's reply. The issue pertains to Rahul Gandhi, who started a company in England, claiming to be a British citizen in the company's annual report.
