Rahul to raise farmers' issues in Lok Sabha

Rahul Gandhi, Congress Vice-President, after a long interval, is coming back to the core issues. He assured the farmers in the family Amethi constituency on Friday that he would raise their issues in Parliament shortly. The Congress, which was playing truant in parliament and backing issues other than essential Goods and Services Tax Bill and so on, appeared to be serious about the farmers' issues now. At least Rajiv Gandhi is commiited to it, as he said so. Had the price of tur ever reached Rs.200, he asked the farmers. This is the first time the price of tur reached the level, he said. Rahul noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised farmers 24-hour power supply. But only 4 to 5 hour power supply was being made available to farmers, he added. In the case of favourite industrialists, the power supply was round the clock. Therefore, he said he would be raising the farmers' issues in parliament now. He said the BJP government had failed to control the prices of essential commodities. It had also failed to keep the promises made to the people.
