Brookfield to take up Vijayawada ORR project

The Rs.670-crore Vijayawada Outer Ring Road project has been given to the US construction company Brookfield. Almost the entire land required for the project had already been acquired even before it was inaugurated, and it was handed over to Gammon India. But since Gammon put the project on the backburner, the company was delisted by the Centre. Brookfield has since come into the picture and offered to invest $100m in the project. The project should be completed by 2017. Now the government will have to ascertain the timeline for the project from Brookfield.
