Quick recipe for Maida Barfi
There are many biscuits that are made with Maida (refined flour). One of them is Maida Barfi. It is a very tasty sweet.
Ingredients:
Maida one cup (Maida is not very good for health. If you do not like to use Maida, you can use whole wheat Atta instead. Or you can use both in equal quantities and follow the recipe.)
Vanaspati two tblsps (can be replaced with ghee)
Castor sugar (powdered sugar)1/4 cup
Oil enough for frying
Method:
Mix Maida and Vanaspati together in a bowl. Add castor sugar to this. Sprinkle some water in to the Maida mixture (Use very little water. Do not pour.) and knead in to a stiff dough. You can add Elaichi (cardamom) powder if you wish, to this. Keep it aside for 10 minutes. Make small balls out of the dough. Roll out each ball in to a roti. It should be thick. Then cut it in to desired shapes with a sharp knife. Light the stove and heat some oil in a deep pan. Fry the biscuits in the hot oil, till they are golden brown. Remove them and place them on a tissue paper. The paper will absorb excess oil. Store the biscuits in a dry container with a tight lid, so as not to allow air inside. You can eat them whenever you wish.
