CBI raids it’s own officials for fraud, bribery and corruption
On Thursday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out raids at different places, looking for corruption and bribery by its own officials. The country’s top investigation agency’s anti-corruption unit has conducted raids on officials suspected of taking bribes and favours from those allegedly involved in cases of bank fraud.
The report claimed that 3 to 4 serving CBI officials are being looked for. The CBI investigates numerous incidents of bank fraud including possible misappropriation of funds. In 2020 alone, the CBI reported about 190 instances of bank fraud involving alleged misappropriation of nearly Rs 60,000 crore.
