Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Highlights Congress Stance on SC Categorization
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made significant remarks regarding the categorization of Scheduled Castes (SCs), affirming the Congress party's support for the initiative. He assured that the process would be conducted without causing inconvenience to any community. The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the Global Madiga Day-2024 event held at a hotel in Hyderabad.
Revanth Reddy highlighted that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had already clarified the party’s stance on SC categorization through the Chevella Declaration. He also emphasized his government’s pivotal role in securing a favorable Supreme Court verdict on the matter.
The Chief Minister revealed that Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha was appointed to lead a team of legal experts to present strong arguments in the pending case related to Madiga sub-castes. He added that the SC Categorization Commission is expected to submit its report within a week, after which the government will proceed with the categorization process smoothly.
Revanth Reddy further stated that the government prioritizes political and administrative appointments for the Madiga community. He noted that for the first time, a person from the Madiga social group was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University.
