Relief for Telangana Government as Supreme Court Rejects Group-1 Exam Cancellation

The Supreme Court of India has ruled against the cancellation of the Group-1 notification, providing significant relief to the Telangana government. The apex court dismissed a petition that sought to annul the notification and postpone the Group-1 mains examination.

Earlier, some candidates had filed a petition in the Telangana High Court, alleging that the government’s new notification was illegal. They claimed that there were 14 errors in the preliminary exam and demanded a postponement of the mains examination. However, the High Court rejected their petition.

Dissatisfied with the High Court’s decision, the candidates approached the Supreme Court. However, the Supreme Court bench observed that the petitioners did not qualify for the mains exam and thus, there was no justification for postponing it. The bench also emphasized that judicial intervention in the examination process should be avoided as it causes delays in recruitment.

With the Supreme Court's decision, the Telangana government has received a go-ahead to conduct the mains examination as planned.
