Are You Afraid of Arresting Both Jagan and Adani?: Sharmila

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president YS Sharmila has criticized the Andhra Pradesh government, questioning its selective approach toward corruption investigations. While praising the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the illegal transport of ration rice, she questioned why no similar investigation was initiated into alleged corruption worth ₹1,750 crore in solar power agreements during the YSRCP regime.

Sharmila accused the government of showing concern only about the rice mafia while ignoring irregularities linked to Adani's solar power deals. “Do American investigation agencies' reports have no value?” she asked, referencing alleged findings implicating the former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in corruption.

She questioned the government's responsibility to uncover the truth, asserting that it was avoiding investigations due to fear of potential consequences. “Are you afraid of having to arrest both Jagan and Adani?” she remarked.

Sharmila also recalled previous allegations by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) when it was in the opposition. The TDP had accused the then-government of corruption in solar power contracts, questioning how electricity costing ₹1.99 per unit in Gujarat was bought for ₹2.49 per unit in Andhra Pradesh. She reminded that current Finance Minister P. Keshav had even filed a case in the High Court seeking the cancellation of such deals.

She alleged that Jagan had "sold out" to Adani and demanded an immediate investigation. The Congress Party, she claimed, was pressing for a fast-track probe into the corruption charges and the cancellation of the solar power agreements.
