In a significant development, the Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of seven new Navodaya Vidyalayas in Telangana. This decision is part of a broader initiative to expand educational infrastructure across the country, with approvals granted for 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas and 28 Navodaya Vidyalayas nationwide.

Under this plan, Telangana will see the establishment of Navodaya Vidyalayas in the districts of Jagtial, Nizamabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Mahabubnagar, Sangareddy, and Suryapet. These schools aim to provide quality education to talented students, particularly from rural areas.

The Union Cabinet has allocated an estimated ₹5,872 crore for the 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas, which are expected to accommodate approximately 960 students each. Additionally, ₹2,359.82 crore has been earmarked for the establishment of the 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas, each designed to support around 560 students.
