Rajamahendravaram, November 4: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday laid foundation stone for the Rs 270 crore worth bioethanol plant, established by Assago Industries, at APIIC Industrial Park in Gummalladoddi village, Gokavaram mandal in East Godavari district. Tech Mahindra CEO CP Gurnani, Minister G Amarnath, T Vanitha, D Raja and Venugopala Krishna, MPs Bharat Ram, Anuradhan V Geetha and MLAs participated in the programme.
This Greenfield unit, being set up in about 20 acres, will manufacture 200 kilo liters of bioethanol per day. This unit will provide direct employment for 100 persons and indirectly to 400.
The Central government had issued orders that it is compulsory to mix 20% bioethanol per one litre petrol by 2025-26 to reduce tailpipe emissions and also to reduce imports of crude oil. At present, there is 8.41% ethanol per litre petrol.
Assago Industries Managing Director Ashish Gurnani lauded the AP government that it issued all permissions for setting up the industry immediately and the State will be in forefront in green fuels. ‘This unit will provide employment to about 500 persons. Farmers also will get additional financial benefit as ethanol will be manufactured by using spoiled food grains and other agriproducts,’ he said.
