2 killed as heavy rains lash AP
Amaravathi, October 7: Heavy rains for the past two days have created havoc in AP. Agricultural fields were filled with rainwater causing crop loss while several low-lying areas were inundated. Flood water is overflowing on the roads stalling traffic in many areas in the State.
Two persons were killed due to lightning in Darshi and Kurichedu of Prakasam district on Wednesday. Road connection was cut off for about 15 villages as Muddanuru-Jammalamadugu road got washed away in YSR district.
Paddy crops in Srikakulam district, maize and other crops in Rayalaseema and grape gardens in Anantapuram district were submerged in rainwater. Crops in as many as 380 acres in Guntur district were damaged.
People faced traffic issues as all roads were filled with rainwater in Vijayawada. It took two hours to reach bus stand from Gollapudi centre.
Meteorological department officials predicted heavy rains for AP on Friday and Saturday and warned people to be alert.
