Gangsters stab constable to death in Nandyal
Nandyal, August 9: A police constable was brutally murdered by a six-member rowdy gang in Nanydal on Sunday night.
Guduru Surendra Kumar (35) was working as a clerk in DSP office in Nandyal. After day’s work, he was returning home on Sunday night. History sheeters, who were consuming liquor at a tattoo shop in Tekke, noticed Surendra and started a brawl with him. They attacked Surendra with beer bottles. As there were six of them, Surendra tried to escape and ran towards Padmavathi Circle. They chased him and forcibly took him in an auto towards tank bund on the outskirts of Nandyal town. They stabbed Surendra, who was unconscious, with knives.
According to information, three gangsters escaped from the scene while the remaining persons returned to the town and beat the persons riding two-wheelers and escaped with their vehicles.
CCTV camera footage showed the gang chasing the constable and attacking with beer bottles on the main road.
The constable died on his way to hospital. SP K Raghuveer Reddy deployed five teams to nab the accused. Kidnap and murder cases were registered.
After performing postmortem, Surendra’s body was handed over to the family members. The final rites were performed on Monday evening.
It came to know that the constable had complained against the accused to the SP earlier.
